Climate change governance calls for participatory approaches, and stakeholder engagement should be at the core of local climate action. With the aim to increase the space of public engagement and participation into local climate action, Ambitious City Promises conducted engagement activities to improve public knowledge and enable feedback mechanisms to discuss citizens’ insights.

This brief recommends local governments leverage the power of the people by revisiting their relationship and engagement with their constituents. When people are heard and given the proper avenues to speak, they are also more likely to have buy-in and ownership of their city’s climate goals.
